Beam

For businesses and the agencies that run them

iMessage for business, from your dedicated line

Beam lets agencies and service businesses send iMessage from dedicated business numbers to eligible iPhones, with RCS for supported Android recipients and SMS fallback for other reachable recipients. Teams can manage replies in a shared inbox and connect client workspaces to GoHighLevel.

Beam is not affiliated with Apple. iMessage is a trademark of Apple Inc. Beam sends from dedicated business numbers, not from a personal Apple ID.

Keep the customer conversation with the business

A quote follow-up or appointment question needs a reply the team can see. Beam brings a dedicated line, shared inbox, channel routing, and a GoHighLevel connection to that workflow, so business conversations do not depend on an employee's personal phone.

Start with a test contact and confirm the send, reply, and handoff. No specific reply rate, delivery result, or booking outcome is guaranteed.

Who this page is for

  • Local service businesses with a quote, a visit and a follow-up: roofing, med spa, solar, insurance, real estate, home services.
  • GoHighLevel agencies and resellers who run messaging on behalf of many clients and need the same setup to work the tenth time.
  • Sales and support teams who want one inbox for a shared business line rather than a pile of personal phones.

If you are a large enterprise building a registered, customer-initiated support channel inside Apple's own program, read the section below on Apple Messages for Business. That is a different product and it may genuinely be the right one for you.

Two very different things share the same name

Business-line iMessage and Apple Messages for Business are different services. Beam uses dedicated business numbers with a shared inbox and GoHighLevel workflows. Apple's registered program uses approved providers and customer entry points.

Read the official Apple FAQ and our Apple Messages for Business comparison to choose the appropriate route. Beam is independent of Apple and claims no Apple registration, partnership or endorsement.

How it works

Your line, not your phone.

Beam assigns dedicated business numbers to your workspace. The first number a contact hears from stays theirs, so their entire relationship with your business lives in one thread. Nobody has to hand over a personal phone when they change jobs.

One send, the right channel.

Beam checks whether the recipient supports blue bubbles, then picks iMessage, RCS or SMS fallback. Beam sends from Apple and Android devices. You do not build a branch in your workflow for iPhone versus Android.

One inbox for the team.

Every conversation across every number lands in one place. Seats have their own logins, threads can be assigned, and a human reply immediately pauses the assistant for that conversation.

You can see the reply coming.

Real read receipts, typing indicators and tapbacks on blue bubble threads. Your team knows the message was read and knows when the customer is typing, which is exactly when a human reply turns into a booking. SMS does not carry them, so Beam does not pretend it does.

FaceTime Audio into a Voice AI agent.

Beam FaceTime Audio connects directly to Voice AI agents, and you can place FaceTime Audio calls from an iPhone number. These calls travel over an internet connection rather than the carrier voice network, so carrier call labels do not apply. The recipient still has to be reachable on FaceTime and their own call settings apply.

Calls and texts on one contact.

Route an inbound call on a Beam line to your team or to a Voice AI agent. Beam uses the caller's phone number as the shared identity, so the same person calling and texting stays on one conversation and one CRM record.

An assistant that hands off.

The Beam assistant can answer, qualify and propose real calendar windows, and it flags a handoff when a person is needed. A booking is not a booking until the calendar confirms it.

One integration, every channel.

iMessage, RCS, SMS fallback, read receipts, typing indicators, FaceTime Audio and inbound Voice AI calls run through one deep GoHighLevel integration on the connected location. There is no second tool to reconcile and no channel your operator cannot see.

One focus: texting, calling, conversions.

Beam works on texting and calling, and judges both by whether they produce replies, answered calls and appointments. That is the short list a business owner is measured on, so it is the list every release ships against.

If you run this for clients

GoHighLevel has no native iMessage channel. HighLevel's marketplace documentation describes conversation providers for custom SMS, email and call providers, and does not list an iMessage provider type. Blue bubbles in GHL come from an integration.

Here is the shape of the Beam setup:

  1. One client workspace per verified GoHighLevel location. Separate inbox, numbers, assistant, team, CRM connection and API key. Nothing crosses between workspaces.
  2. A restricted credential. Create a GHL credential with only the contact and calendar permissions Beam needs, and enter it in Beam Settings under CRM inbox messaging. Beam checks the live account before it shows Connected.
  3. Beam appears as an additional inbox channel. Your existing phone workflows stay separate and unchanged. GHL's own Send SMS action keeps using your default SMS provider, so do not switch that default to try to force the integration.
  4. Workflow sends use a Custom Webhook. Keep your triggers, delays and conditions in GHL. The webhook step carries a workspace bearer token, and Beam pulls the destination from that exact GHL contact in the connected location. Nobody pastes a phone number into a workflow.
  5. Validate with a dry run first. Run your own test contact with dry_run: true, expect status: validated, then flip it for one real test. Queued means accepted, not delivered.
  6. Duplicates are guarded. Every send carries a request key. Repeat the same key and you get the same message id back with duplicate: true rather than a second text to a client's lead.

It is one integration rather than a stack of them. The same connected location carries iMessage, RCS and SMS fallback, real read receipts and typing indicators on blue bubble threads, inbound calls routed to your team or to a Voice AI agent, and FaceTime Audio that connects directly to that agent. Your operator sees the read receipt and answers while the lead is still on the page, which is where the booked calls come from.

One current limitation, stated plainly: clients pay Beam directly today, and agency rebilling and custom domains are not active. Do not sell a white label package on the assumption that those are available.

What about A2P 10DLC?

iMessage and FaceTime Audio run outside carrier A2P 10DLC. SMS fallback remains subject to applicable carrier A2P requirements. Registration depends on the channel and the number type, so confirm what applies to your assigned lines before you launch rather than assuming a blanket exemption.

What does not change: consent. A blue bubble does not turn a cold list into permission. Keep marketing consent records, honor opt-outs, and put the required disclosure near your text button. Beam enforces opt-outs at the send layer and checks CRM do-not-disturb state, but Beam does not capture consent for you.

And capacity is real. Beam paces new outbound-first conversations to protect line health. Replies inside an active thread and conversations a contact starts are handled differently. Size your line capacity around your audience, not around a wish. Read sending limits before you promise a client a number.

A one week test that tells you something

Pick one workflow. The follow-up after a quote is usually the one with money in it.

  1. Open a workspace and confirm billing and one assigned line.
  2. Connect the CRM location and confirm it reads back as Connected.
  3. Screen a small list for blue bubble reachability so you know what you are looking at.
  4. Send to your own test contact with the dry run on, then off.
  5. Reply from the test phone and confirm the message appears once in the inbox and once on the CRM contact.
  6. Hand the thread to a teammate and confirm the assistant pauses.
  7. Send one intentional opt-out and confirm the send is blocked afterwards.
  8. Then, and only then, enable the workflow for real leads.

Write down what you expect at each step before you run it. A screen showing a queued message is not a delivered message, and a drafted reply is not a booked appointment.

Plan the CRM and Android experience

Use the iMessage CRM guide to map sends and replies to the correct client record. For Android recipients, review RCS business messaging and fallback. If you are selecting a provider, the messaging alternatives guides explain the account and workflow questions to compare.

Choose a workflow for your team

Med spa inquiries and consultation coordination

A med spa can evaluate Beam for expected inquiry replies and consultation coordination through a shared business inbox. Assign a person to answer and route treatment questions to the appropriate professional. For any workflow involving patient information, review privacy requirements and vendor agreements before sending. Beam HIPAA compliance is not established by the sources on this site; use the health-related messaging review checklist to frame that evaluation.

Before you connect

Common questions

What is iMessage for business?

It is sending iMessage from a business number rather than from an employee's personal phone, so the conversation belongs to the company. Eligible iPhones get blue bubbles, Android recipients get RCS when their phone and carrier support it, and everyone else gets SMS fallback. Replies land in a shared inbox your team can answer and your CRM can record.

Is this the same as Apple Messages for Business?

No. Apple Messages for Business is a registered Apple program that requires an Apple-approved messaging service provider, runs without a business phone number, and is started by the customer through entry points such as a website button, Apple Maps or a QR code. Beam is a different thing: dedicated business numbers you message from. Beam claims no Apple registration, partnership or endorsement.

Can I send business iMessage from my own iPhone or Apple ID?

Not with Beam. Beam sends from dedicated business numbers, which keeps personal identity separate and lets a team manage the conversation. A personal Apple ID setup dies the day that employee leaves, and it gives you no shared inbox, no CRM record and no delivery status your operations team can act on.

What happens when I message an Android customer?

Beam uses RCS when the recipient's phone and carrier support it, and falls back to SMS otherwise. You do not need a separate branch in your workflow. Your CRM sees the channel that was used, so reporting stays honest. Typing indicators and tapbacks are iMessage features, so they are not available on those threads.

Do I need A2P 10DLC registration for business texting?

iMessage and FaceTime Audio run outside carrier A2P 10DLC. SMS fallback remains subject to applicable carrier A2P requirements, and registration depends on the channel and number type. Confirm the requirements for your assigned lines before launching. Consent and opt-out obligations apply on every channel regardless of bubble color.

Can my agency run this for many clients?

Yes. Each client runs in its own workspace with a separate inbox, numbers, assistant, team, CRM connection and API key, and one workspace maps to one verified GoHighLevel location. Note the current limit: clients pay Beam directly today, and agency rebilling and custom domains are not active, so do not price a white label package around them.

Do read receipts and typing indicators work in GoHighLevel?

Yes, on blue bubble threads, as part of the same GoHighLevel integration that sends iMessage, RCS and SMS fallback. Your team sees that the customer read the message and sees when they are typing, so the follow-up lands while the attention is there. SMS does not carry those signals, so Beam does not show them on those threads.

Can I make calls from the same number?

Yes. Beam FaceTime Audio connects directly to Voice AI agents, you can place FaceTime Audio calls from an iPhone number, and inbound calls on a Beam line route to your team or to that agent. Because Beam uses the caller's phone number as the shared identity, a person who calls and texts stays on one conversation and one CRM contact. Test the handoff before you use it with customers.

How many messages can I send per day?

Beam paces new outbound-first conversations to protect line health, with warm-up caps per line that grow as the number earns trust. Replies inside an active conversation are handled differently, because answering fast is human. This is a channel constraint, not a plan upgrade, so size capacity around the audience you actually have.

Can a med spa use Beam for consultation inquiries?

A med spa can evaluate Beam for business-line inquiry conversations and team handoffs. Before using patient information, confirm the required privacy safeguards and agreements; this site does not establish Beam HIPAA compliance.
